Vicky Paul’s work moves between worlds - light and shadow, chaos and stillness, the seen and the sensed. Led by intuition rather than structure, her practice explores shifting energies, connection and transformation. Every mark and colour emerges spontaneously, surrendering to the immediacy of the moment, to make the unseen seen. The resulting works feel alive: less concerned with depiction than with what quietly shifts when you’re standing in front of them.

Artist in Residence Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel, Edinburgh

My artist in residence brought together four collections - Celestial, Cosmos, Thin Places and Cherry Blossoms - each exploring a different rhythm of energy, connection and change.

Displayed throughout the lobby and Garden Room, visitors were able to view the expansive, high-frequency movement of Celestial and Cosmos, the quieter, more reflective tones of Thin Places, and lush, confectionary impasto Cherry
Blossoms. This collection moved between light and shadow, chaos and
calm, the seen and the felt.
