Biography
Vicky Paul is a contemporary artist and intuitive living and working in Edinburgh. She believes we carry inside us everything we seek outside us, and her work explores transformation, her passion for the mind body spirit connection, the energy in nature, and the golden thread that connects us.
Vicky’s practise is deeply meditative and rooted in her spiritual beliefs, guided by the process rather than taking control of it. Using texture, layers and spontaneous mark making, she works intuitively allowing the painting to emerge organically. Often featuring many layers, she aims to capture the energy of oneness, elemental matter, the unseen world, and a feeling of deep connection with the natural world.
“I strive to capture the idea that there is an invisible force guiding and inspiring us; of all things being connected to infinite potential; the vastness of the universe; and the sacredness of nature and the elements. I want my work to act as a visual alchemy informed by the viewer’s own perceptions and personal experiences”.
Vicky began exhibiting in 2018, and curated her first solo virtual exhibition ‘Seen and Unseen’ during the pandemic. She creates Soul Energy Portraits; contemporary, abstract paintings that capture your energy rather than your likeness, runs intuitive paintings workshops, is a live event artist, podcast host and published author.
Her paintings are part of private collections in UK, USA, Canada, Dubai and Japan. In October 2025 her work Elementum, for The Borders Distillery, was sold by Sotheby’s as part of the Distillers One of One auction, raising £20,000 for charity.
Prior to becoming a professional artist, Vicky ran a successful Arts PR business, and was an award-winning radio presenter, reporting backstage from the MTV VMA’s and interviewing musicians including Madonna, Kylie, and George Michael.
Vicky is a member of Visual Arts Scotland and Society of Scottish Artists.
