Thin Places #2 continues my exploration of the spaces between the tangible and intangible.
Inspired by the atmosphere of Orkney and its ancient sites, this painting considers the way certain places can alter our perception of time, scale and connection.
The colour palette creates a sense of calm and spaciousness, while luminous marks appear within the surface like fragments of light or energy. These contrasts give the painting subtle movement - still, but never static.
Rather than offering a literal depiction of a landscape, Thin Places #2 is an interpretation of atmosphere and memory - what remains with us after we leave, and how something can continue to exist within our experience.
