Biography

Vicky Paul is a Scottish contemporary artist and intuitive currently living and working just outside London.

Vicky spent her childhood drawing and acting, inspired by her grandfather’s passion for painting, and a calling to express herself. Always a free spirit, she left University in search of adventure and foreign culture, travelling to India, Egypt and Israel before settling in Paris, France for a year. Back in the UK, she enjoyed a successful career as an award-winning radio presenter, reporting backstage from the MTV VMA’s and interviewing everyone from Madonna, to Kylie and George Michael.

In her 30’s, a profound experience led her to sense and work with energy, and she trained as an energy healer, yoga teacher and intuitive guide. Vicky returned to painting after three miscarriages left her struggling to express how she was feeling. Abstract art enabled Vicky to express herself using bold, vibrant colour palettes inspired by her passion for the natural world.

Using layers, texture, splatter and spontaneous mark making, she brings the canvas to life. Drawing on her background as an intuitive and healer, Vicky infuses her paintings with prana (energy) to invite you to explore beyond your five senses and unlearn what you think and know about the world within and around you. She also paints Soul Energy Portraits, a unique visual reflection of your inner essence, and co-creative journey that balances the mind body spirit connection and releases the stories that may be holding you back from your passion, purpose and potential.

Vicky started exhibiting in 2018 when one of her paintings was selected for The Royal Scottish Academy OPEN+. In 2019, after moving to London, she exhibited her abstract florals at NAFAS 60th Anniversary – the first time they had featured a visual artist. In 2020, she curated her first solo virtual exhibition ‘Seen and Unseen’ and launched #FREEdomArtFriday giving away a small original artwork on paper every week for a year.

Vicky describes her work as “a visual alchemy based on the viewers own perceptions and personal experiences” and she creates to conceptualise that which exists but cannot be seen. She has incorporated her spiritual knowledge and experience into developing herself as a visual artist, and her paintings are part of private collections in the UK, USA, Canada, Japan and Dubai.

Artist Statement

It is my mission to create art that lifts your spirits, transforms your soul and shares the beauty and wisdom that exists but cannot be seen.

As a self taught contemporary mixed media artist and intuitive, my work explores connection, transformation, metaphysics and energy. I am passionate about sharing the frequencies within the Universe - from nature, to humans, the cosmos and beyond - and hope to deepen your spiritual awareness by sharing the unseen world.

My practise is deeply meditative, guided by the process rather than taking control of it to channel soulful expression. Using texture, layers and spontaneous mark making to reflect the complexity of life, colour frees you to connect with something beyond your own immediate world. My work is a visual portal for soul’s guidance, anchored in connection, truth and transformation.
